The Management Entities are responsible for the exploration, management and supply of waters destined to the human consumption, as it stands in the Act n.º 243/2001, 5th of September. These institutions, that can be Local Authorities or Municipalized Enterprises, especially turned to the public supply and sanitation, are responsible for guarantee of the water quality for human consumption, given the importance to the health and to safeguard and promote the sustainable use.
The mentioned Act brought up a set of measures of control of the water quality for consumption, which the entities must follow and respect.
